Miss Morphine designs first started in 2006 by the young up and coming Irish artist Sorcha Reilly.
She first began making banners for the Dragon Legacy online game but soon began making more seirous work. Her first major comission was a CD cover for the austailian band "Army Of The Sun". She soon became know through out the sigging and fourm community. Sorcha became well known in her local area, winning the Grennan College Art award in 2007 and nominated again in 2008 for the award. in 2006 she won DL sigger of the year award and went on to win it a second time in 2007. Sorcha's sketch work was also published in the worldwide kerrang magazine in 2006. She went on to bring her talent to a bigger audiance through the well know art site http://www.deviantart.com/ where she met other artist and began to master her skills in photoshop and in 2008, she was nominated for a comfuzzeled award on the site for her animation works. Her next big comission was for DJ Reeper, an Irish DJ, whom she designed a cover for "ghost" and for a special edition "sunlight". She has become the offical designer for the DJ and has also made connection to other musicians and bands such as the Irish cover band "Cailber" and "Nieuforius" an american Electironica musician
Aswell as her digital art and photoshop talent, Sorcha also showed her literary skills by her poetry being published in Ryhme RAG in 2007 and 2008.
Q&A for Sorcha
Q: what do you you hope to achive in your work?
A:"i guess my main goal is to make custom designs for people, designs that stand out from the normal. i love my what i do and i hope that people can sence that in my work"
Q: what do you like most about what you do?
A: "i love seeing my work around. being used and enjoyed. it was great the first time i saw one of the CD covers i designed on sale in a record shop. it gives me a great sence of pride to know i did it."
Q: what age where you when you started useing photoshop for the first time?
A: "i was around 13, maybe 14. my brother got me my first photoshop so i still owe him alot today concidering."
Q: what is your favoirte peice of your work and why?
A: "my favorite would have to be the cover for "sunlight" the minute i heard the song the design was there in my head fully formed. she (Dj Reeper) was crazy about it when i showed it to her so i'm glad it turned out as well as it did."
Q: what influences you most when your designing?
A: "i try to get the design to suit the person as well as possible. but when i do get free chose on the design, i listen to music, which knowing my tastes, could be anything from Moby to Slipknot."
Q: how did you come up with the name Miss Morphine?
A: "this is a really long story actually. as i also write poetry, one of my poems was titled "morphine" and when it got published, my boyfriend at the time used to call me his"Miss Morphine" because of the nature of the poem. it just kind of stuck with me since then even though we've since broken up. we still remain good friends and he still calls me his "miss morphine" thought it would make a nice tribute to what we had."
